Thanksgiving

"I perceived that there is nothing better for them to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil - this is God's gift to man.
- Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

A reminder to be content and take joy in all our blessings... Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Hugo's Hit - Story Summary

In the last story, Rocco's Fall, Rocco's mean and evil side came out when he hit his head.

This time, it's Hugo who hits his head and changes from the "nasty" honey badger to the nicest creature around. He even helps ducklings like these:

Hugo's usually the bad guy, but maybe it's possible for someone who is mean on the outside to be kind deep down inside.

DIY: Washi Tape Q.T. Journals

Had the opportunity to make some Q.T. journals with some of my girls over the weekend. A Q.T. (quiet time) journal is for collecting your thoughts during your "quiet" or meditative time reading and studying God's Word. Since Q.T. journals can become very personal, we decided to personalize them from the very start!

Supplies:
• Moleskin Cahier Notebook
• A variety of washi tape
• Scissors
• Stickers or other decorative elements
• A Q.T. guide print out (optional)

1. Began by layering different types of washi tape on both sides of the journal cover

2. Printed and cut "Quiet Time Guides" - Available for download here

3. Taped the "Quiet Time Guide" onto the inside cover of the journal

4. Finished off by trimming the edges and decorating with sticker initials, etc.

Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. - Psalm 37:4

I used to think "delighting in the Lord" meant occasionally praying to God and worshiping Him, but I'm starting to realize that it really means to center my life around Him completely. When I do turn to God for joy, strength and guidance for all the different areas of my life, my desires feel less burdensome and I find it easier to get through the day...

"Your role is to pray, to trust, to build your life around Him, to listen to His still, small voice of guidance...and let Him take care of the rest."
- Leslie Ludy

"Don't hold onto what you want, but what God has in store for you."

DIY: Hand Carved Rocco Stamp

I have been wanting to make a hand carved stamp for a while...and I finally got around to it! It was one of those "I HAVE to make something now!" impulses, and I'm glad I followed it using this tutorial.

Supplies used:
Staedtler Mastercarve Artist Carving Block
Speedball Linoleum Cutters
• X-Acto Knife
• Pencil
• Ink Pad

Here is my attempt at carving out Rocco:

The process didn't take as long as I thought it would (about an hour?), or maybe I didn't notice the time passing by :) Check out this crazy hand carved feather stamp tutorial:

Joshua 1:9

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9

"I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." - Psalm 34:4
