God's Love

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. - 1 John 4:9-10

God first loved us. Enjoy His love this season! Merry Christmas!

Fruit of the Spirit

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. - Galatians 5:22-23

Designing for Feet Tea

A few months ago, Josie, the owner of Feet Tea, asked me to design a logo for her new business. With as much creative freedom I could wish for, we worked together to design the logo for Feet Tea.

To not get this confused for actual drinking tea, Feet Tea foot soak bags combine the therapeutic properties of Dead Sea, Epsom, and desert mineral salts with pure therapeutic-grade Essential Oils to create a revitalizing blend that cleanses, exfoliates, and hydrates tired feet.

I have seen them booth several times, and each time, I am inspired by their vision and passion. To find out more on Feet Tea, visit them on Facebook and Etsy.

Child of the One True King

This illustration is for the children's ministry at my church, but I thought I'd share this along with my current favorite song, "Hello, My Name is" by Mathew West. I love the chorus:

Hello, my name is child of the one true king,
I've been saved, I've been changed, I have been set free
Amazing grace, is the song I sing
Hello my name is child of the one true king

Faith is...

"Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe." - St Augustine

God remains faithful

Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with him, we will also live with him;
if we endure, we will also reign with him.
If we disown him, he will also disown us;
if we are faithless, he remains faithful,
for he cannot disown himself.
- 2 Timothy 2:11-13

Even when we don't think about God, He thinks about us. When we are not enjoying God, He is enjoying us. When we are faithless, he remains faithful.

Temporary Tattoos

I love temporary tattoos, and have often thought of making my own. When I had the chance to be a vendor at my church's Mission India Bazaar Night, I took the opportunity to finally make some!

To make the tattoos, all I needed was temporary tattoo paper and my inkjet printer. Make your own Little Seed tattoos with this free download!

Believe + Calligraphy

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires? Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” - John 6:28-29

The work of God is to believe. It's not about us doing all sorts of things to please God - He is pleased when we simply believe!

Which of the above versions do you prefer? I recently went to a calligraphy workshop taught by Maybelle Imasa Stukuls at Poketo, and I am now in love with calligraphy. Look out for more calligraphy as I (hopefully) improve!

God is working

In his defense Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working."

Dominate

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. - Isaiah 40:31

Inspired by the messages from Exodus3, that proclaim that "we are more than conquerors through him who loved us" (Romans 8:37).

Enjoy the present

"The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present." - Alice Morse Earle

Grace is a gift

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9

It's not about what we do, but what God has done for us!

Daphne

In a small town lived a donkey named Daphne, who delivered flowers for her master. Daphne loved flowers, and was content with her life - most of the time. Sometimes, she wondered if she would be happier and more respected by the townspeople if she carried humans like the horses, or large crates like the oxen. Whenever she shared these feelings with the bees that followed her, they would buzz back, "Just be, Daphne."

One day, Daphne was feeling particularly dissatisfied with herself. The stableboy had called her a rude name that rhymed with grass, and she felt she needed to do something to get more respect from him and everyone around her. Thus, she decided to do more than deliver flowers that day. During her breaks, she offered rides to people around town, and even helped an ox with his load.

By the end of the day, Daphne felt exhausted. Her muscles felt sore from carrying and lifting all day, so much so that she could not get up the next day. Her master came in to see her, and  asked, "Daphne, why did you overwork yourself? Don't you know that you are very valuable and perfect as you are?"

Then Daphne finally understood what the bees have been buzzing to her all along. She didn't need to prove her worth, because she was already worthy, as her master said. She just needed to be Daphne!

The next day, Daphne felt well enough to deliver flowers again. As she carried the flowers, their sweet aroma filled her with happiness and gratitude, and she joined the bees as they buzzed, "Just bee!"

Abide in me, and I in you

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. John 15:4

For a long time, I thought it was about what I had to do to please God. But I'm realizing that it's not about what we do, but what God has done for us...and will continue to do as we abide and depend on Him!

Believe & Enjoy

Two words that have been on my mind - believe and enjoy. For me, this means believing in what Jesus has done for us, and enjoying His love each day. Believe! Enjoy! :)

Sheila's Sweaters

Sheila had the softest wool among all the sheep. Her wool was so soft, other animals described it to be "like a cloud," and "heavenly."

One day, the master had to make a special sweater. He took Sheila, and sheared all of her gorgeous wool.

In her shock and sadness, Sheila hid her nakedness from the other animals. But the master understood Sheila and gave her a sweater made from her own wool.

As Sheila stepped out uncertainly in her new sweater, the other animals came to “oohh” and “aahh” at her new look. Everyone was amazed at how Sheila's wool could become something even more beautiful.

When Sheila's wool grew back, the master came to shear her wool again. But Sheila was not afraid, because she knew she could wear her sweater again.

Not only that, but Sheila's fear was replaced by wonder and joy when she saw her wool being transformed into all kinds of sweaters.

Over time, the other animals also received sweaters made of Sheila’s wool, and everyone was able to enjoy the beauty and softness of Sheila’s sweaters.

God in our hearts

"If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.- 1 John 4:15-16
