Inspiration from: Patrick McDonnell

Recently bought Hug Time by Patrick McDonnell at the library sale the other day, and I was reminded of how much I loved reading the "Mutts" comics in the newspapers while growing up. Seeing his work again, I feel much more appreciative of McDonnell's illustration technique of easy ink lines and watercolor accents, along with his simple stories and comics that are full of heart.

If you get a chance, take a look at McDonnell's children's books. Hug Time is the book I purchased (and read more than 5 times in one day). Not only are the books a great illustration reference, but it will leave you smiling and feeling better by the end :)
