A Mural

I recently painted a mural for my church's high school chapel lounge. After about two and a half days of painting, in-between trips to Home Depot, several paint color mix-ups, too many take out meals, and amazing help from friends...

...the mural came to a finish!

And there is Hugo in the bottom left corner ;)

Notebooks Made From Scraps

I was feeling crafty one night, so I collected a bunch of scraps - unused greeting cards, envelopes, pages from old notebooks, various scrap paper - and made some little notebooks!

Mom's Sayings - Happy Mother's Day!

Mom's Sayings

My mom has always been telling me these sayings since I was a little girl. Even if they're brainwashed into me, I still struggle with some (especially 2, 3 and 6). Her most common sayings:

1. Always try your best, even if you don't get the best results
2. Sit straight
3. Always be humble 
4. Enjoy every moment
5. Be wise like a fox! 
6. Use your common sense!!
7. Always give thanks 
8. Invite God into every part of your life (when you're drawing, driving, making decisions, etc.)
9. Have big dreams
10. Give everything up to God, but do your portion to the best of your ability
11. Share your blessings, and it will come back to you multiplied
12. I love you

For my mom's mother's day gift, I painted Umgie on a garden pot using acrylics, then planted some succulents:

Faith of a Little Seed Cover Preview

This month, instead of a new story, Little Seed will be doing a cover/music video of Big Tent Revival's "Faith of a Little Seed."

Since this is the first time using music and video, I am really not sure how this will turn out. But doesn't hurt to try, right? :) Look out for the video later this month!

Japan Earthquake Relief Fundraiser Art Exhibition

Little Seed's "Pray for Japan" illustration is being featured in Koreatown Galleria's newspaper advertisements, posters and banners for the Japan Earthquake Relief Fundraiser Art Exhibition:

The project was completely unexpected. They asked me a few days before the exhibition if they could use Little Seed's "Pray for Japan" art, of Amy's heart and everyone's love covering the symbol of Japan. Then in a few days, it was out there!

It's a real honor being able to contribute this way!

ZINES

Recently, I have been really into zines. I think my interest began when I started taking a class on children's illustration - but instead of formatting Little Seed stories into a children's book, I realized I was much more interested in playing with the idea of a zine. As of now, I have created zines for My Little Tree, Fly, and I Want to Send My Love:

Maybe the fact that my instructor, Mark Todd, is into zines (he even wrote a book about it!) swayed me into creating zines instead. Nevertheless, I plan to use these zines mainly for promotional purposes...and if anyone would like to trade zines, contact me :)
