Grady Grows Up

As Grady and the girl goes on a search for Grady's family in this sequel to Grady, they are reminded again of the importance of thankfulness and how life can present awesomely unexpected situations.

"Thank you," Grady said to the girl, and as Grady chirped his thanks, a few of his old gray feathers fell away to reveal new, white feathers." 

 

Grady Grows Up was partly inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling and Norman Bridwell's Clifford The Big Red Dog series.

Character Profiles: Umgie

Umgie is a real-life pug living with Sarah. Umgie’s exact birthday is unknown, because Sarah adopted her in the fourth grade when Umgie was 8 months old. The name “Umgie,” which was given to her by her previous owner, means “thumb” in Korean. Umgie enjoys sitting in the sun by the flower bushes and watching the hummingbirds.
